On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers faced a big game against the New Orleans Pelicans that had big implications as far as the play-in tournament was concerned.
L.A. came into the contest holding a slim lead in the standings over the Pelicans for the ninth seed in the Western Conference.
It came out hot in the first half, taking a 23-point lead at one point, but things turned in a major way in the second half, while the Lakers went cold.
The Purple and Gold lost 116-108 and now hold 10th place, just one game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs.
Across Twitter, the NBA community had nothing but criticism and even scorn for LeBron James and company following this costly setback.
Pelicans scored more pts in the 3rd, 43. Than the Lakers scored in the entire 2nd half, 39. That’s what happens when you stop playing Def and start turning the ball over.

But I’m sure LeBron will say in his postgame interview that he’s having the time of his life. Hey, he scored 39. He’s going to win the scoring title in Year 19. His coach says he should be MVP.

LeBron has failed to close a dozen games this season that the Lakers were in position to win and did not. No closer gene. Please, no GOAT.

This Lakers team gotta be some of the biggest idiots I ever seen in my life, I’m not exaggerating almost every player had 4 teachers in their classroom.

This Lakers team has vowed to expose us to pain in the most unfathomable ways. A regular loss simply won’t do. It has to be excruciating

we deserve another stimulus check simply for enduring every single lakers game being on national tv this season

The San Antonio Spurs deserve to be in the play-in, nobody trying to see clinically mentally challenged ppl wearing Lakers jerseys.

Lakers have blown the most double digits leads in the NBA. Not good.

Abolish the play-in game.
This Lakers team doesn’t deserve any kind of chance at the playoffs. SMFH.
— LakersSpin (@LakersSpin) March 28, 2022
Low IQ team compounded by a stubborn coach. This Lakers team doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the playoffs
