LIVE: Trump Triggers Global Trade War, Slaps Tariffs on India, China, EU | Vantage with Palki Sharma

US President Donald Trump has announced significant reciprocal tariffs on India and China. Calling these as “discounted reciprocal tariffs”, President Trump said that the US will charge an import duty of 27 per cent on India and 34 per cent on China. He also announced a 20 per cent levy on imports from the European Union and 10 per cent from the UK.

In addition to this Trump also announced a 10 per cent blanket tariff on all the goods entering the United States. He further announced a special tariff of 25 per cent on foreign automobiles.

The reciprocal tariffs will come into effect on April 9.

Certain goods and industries including pharmaceuticals, a few metals such as copper and gold, semiconductor and energy sector have been exempted from Trump tariffs.

Trump tariff announcement led to a bloodbath across the international stock markets as India’s Sensex fell more than 320 points and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped more than 350 points. Palki Sharma tells you more.
